Oh yeah, Merry Christmas... If anyone's actually reading this.

Hmmm... another cake. Don't ask about the name, really...
I just received my 15th "Microsoft Update" e-mail a few moments ago, and I'm starting to wonder where these are coming from... Come on, are people really that stupid?
"Microsoft Partner
this is the latest version of security update, the "December 2003, Cumulative Patch" update which eliminates all known security vulnerabilities affecting MS Internet Explorer, MS Outlook and MS Outlook Express as well as three newly discovered vulnerabilities. Install now to continue keeping your computer secure from these vulnerabilities."
Yes, because suddenly, the annoying -- but necessary -- Windows Update has become obsolete, and Microsoft is relying on e-mail to get critical updates to customers... Right...
*this is the point where Mr. Easily Distracted (me) gets distracted (easily)*
Why do people talk so much? Did you know that 78% of everything in a spoken conversation is irrelevant and unnecessary to the conversation itself?
Did you know that 83% of all statistics are made up on the spot?
I have this 'friend' -- let's just call her "C" for the time being -- who really loves to hear herself talk... I'm not too sure what it is about her own voice that fascinates her so much, but I do know that it gets VERY annoying. Yesterday, I decided to administrate an extremely scientific, professional experiment. Everytime that "C" called, I took my handy stopwatch and hit Start immediately after answering the phone. I pressed Stop when she stopped talking.
----The Official Results----
Call 1 (about 11:30 AM): 8 minutes and 39 seconds
Call 2 (about 3:40 PM): 10 minutes and 45 seconds
Call 3 (about 10:30 PM): 7 minutes and 54 seconds
(at about 4 and a half minutes, she asked "Are you still there, Peter?"... I answered "No", and she continued)
----Conclusions----:
(1) Some people just REALLY like to hear their own voice...
(2) I need some new friends.
